Welcome Ceremony for New Students and In-School Thingyan Festival Celebration ( 2024 Academic Year)

On April 16, 2024, Kachin State Comprehensive University (KSCU) celebrated the beginning of the 2024 academic year with a grand Welcome Ceremony for incoming students and a vibrant Thingyan (Water Festival) celebration. The event was organized by several faculties, including the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Nursing Sciences, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Technology. The ceremony took place on the KSCU campus and was attended by students, staff, and distinguished guests.
The event commenced with an official welcome address by the Vice President of KSCU, who expressed enthusiasm for the new academic year and encouraged students to excel in their studies and participate actively in campus life. Following the opening speech, the students showcased their talents through a series of cultural performances, including traditional dance, song performances, and the selection of the annual King and Queen of the university.
In addition to the cultural entertainment, the students also participated in the traditional Thingyan water splashing activities, a celebration of the Myanmar New Year that symbolizes the cleansing of bad luck and the welcoming of a fresh start. The festivities were accompanied by the sharing of traditional snacks, including the famous Atar sweet cakes and other local delicacies.
Adding to the excitement, renowned artists Pyi Son and Myint Myint Sein performed during the ceremony, energizing the crowd with their heartfelt songs and spreading positive vibes and camaraderie among the university community.
The event successfully combined academic and cultural elements, creating an inclusive and festive atmosphere that highlighted the rich traditions of Myanmar while also marking the start of a promising academic year for KSCU students.
